Alisha's Cancer Treatments
Donation protected
December 10th, 2016 my 37 year old wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was obviously extremely young for this disease and the mother of 4 and 6 year old sons. The news hit hard, but the original diagnosis was that it was slow growing and appeared to be located only in the breast with no signs of spreading. We scheduled a double mastectomy surgery for January 30th with all signs pointing towards this and physical recovery being the only treatments necessary. While in surgery the doctors sampled the first three lymph nodes to make sure the cancer had not spread, as they are the vehicle which cancer uses to spread to the rest of the body. The lymph node test came back positive for signs of cancer. This means that she could have cancer elsewhere or possibly just a few cells in her blood stream somewhere that haven't attached or started to grow. Either way, with her being so young, they are going to administer an aggressive 18 week long chemotherapy treatment followed by 6 weeks of radiation. We are already under quite the financial strain due to medical expenses, including 2 years of deductibles due to the timing of diagnosis and now two surgeries. She will miss an extended amount of work furthering the strain with significant loss of income. To add on to that our healthcare plan through Humana has informed us that the plan we signed up December 1st will no longer available as of June 15th, which means finding a new plan and paying another deductible. All these factors are why we come to ask for your support both in prayer and fellowship and through donations if you're able. Thank you for your time and consideration.
We would also like you to know that any contributions over the minimum needs to cover our medical expenses and loss of income will be donated back into a breast cancer specific charity.
