Lend a Hand to a Village in Uganda

Tax deductible
TakeMy Hand Uganda (TMHU) is a small charity that began as a Christian relief mission responding to the plight of nearly 100 children living in an orphanage in Kampala.  After months of effort to improve their living conditions, our mission team discovered their true fate. As orphans, they were the victims of  an opportunistic orphanage director.

Last year Alteryx for Good jumpstarted our fundraising and planning efforts with a generous $14,000 donation.  We have set a goal of $32,000 now to begin the next stage and secure land and building materials.  Join us and Alteryx in this campaign and share in the life changing journey.

Our mission grew from a rescue effort to founding a sponsorship program that could impact the hearts and minds of these children by giving them a hope-filled future. Today, our children are living a safe and well-cared for life at a boarding school located northwest from Kampala, the capital of Uganda.  Under the care of TMHU’s Sponsorship Program, a once vulnerable child’s life changes dramatically. Consistent access to food, medical care, and clean water revive them physically. Sponsorship fills the child with certainty that they are known and loved. Letter writing between sponsor and child builds relationships, strengthens self-confidence and expands horizons.

Thirty-seven did not find placement; these beautiful young children became our legacy.

Our vision is to expand our reach beyond these children, making an impact at the village level and keep family units intact.  We are in the stages of carefully exploring a partnership with schools in a village that is in immediate need of resources.  We are raising funds to build a community center.

Our goal is raise enough money to buy the land and build a simple building with 2-3 classrooms and a playground.  This is a stage by stage process and as time progresses the building has the ability to expand and include guest housing for visiting volunteers and mission teams.

A Community Hope Center will be a place where kids and families in the village can come after school, weekends and holidays to:
- get tutoring or help with assignments
- life events education
- use resources like maps, dictionaries and math manipulatives
- play educational games, create art and watch films
- have access to educational opportunities and technology.
-Agricultural and feeding programs designed to teach life skills and sustainability
- Parenting classes
- Counseling services
- Health classes for parents and their children
- Community gardens and livestock

Housing will be built for volunteers, staff, and teams to come in and share their talents and teaching resources to the village.

Take My Hand Uganda and Alteryx is thankful for your generosity to help further their vision to help more children in need. You can help provide resources with your donation and make a difference in improving the children’s lives and their community.  Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you again!
