Hi Guys!
I recently quit my full-time job to start my first semester as a full-time student at the College of San Mateo, studying business. Although college is full of endless possibilities, going to school is also really expensive. I recently got accepted into the Study Abroad South Africa program for the Summer of 2017! In South Africa I will learn international communications first hand. I will have the opportunity to analyze and reflect on the socioeconomic, political, historical factors that contribute to South African cultural identity. I will travel to historical cities and landmarks in Johannesburg and Cape Town, including a visit to the Apartheid Museum, Nelson Mandela House, and tour the Robben Island prison where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years of his life. I will also learn about South African history and culture from South African professors, students and community members and, engage in meaningful dialogue with community members who grew up during the apartheid system. I will also hear firsthand about their struggles for equality, as well as have opportunities to interact with and do service projects with South African youth.
This is a once in a lifetime and super exciting opportunity. This is a 3 week course that departs on June 8th. The deadline for the final payment is April 15th.
The total program cost is $5,500; anything helps!
Thank you so much for the support in helping me chase my dreams!
