Amelia's Food Journey
Donation protected
My daughter Amelia has just entered a clinic for kids with eating disorders. She is 6, has had to have an NG tube in, and is going through a lot. This process could take 2-3 weeks, it could take 2-3 months, and even with insurance, it isn't cheap. We are paying as much out of pocket as possible, but would ask your help to cover the difference.
ALSO: we have been SO blessed by the people at the Kartini Clinic and Ronald McDonald House Charities that any money received above and beyond Amelia's medical expenses will be donated evenly to those two charities. I never knew how important it was to NOT have to worry about the details until I met the people at these places.
At Kartini Clinic, the staff is caring, concerned and does everything possible to make sure that you and your child are taken care of, watched over, and helped. They have kids too, they understand the concern and worry of a parent. I have found myself almost in tears so many times in just the short time we have been there, thanking them for all the little things. From being able to get an NG tube in my daughter without a trip to the ER to keeping her busy the rest of the day so she starts to forget. Or from encouraging us, being open and honest with us, to working with us on payment plans and possible additional financing to make sure we aren't worried about our daughter not being able to get the help she needs. They are amazing.
At Ronald McDonald House, the beauty is in the small details. We toured it the day before we were going to stay, and the fact my daughter loves dragons came up. The next day, when we checked in, one of the stuffed animals in the room for my daughter was a beautiful dragon. Just being around other families going through similar situations, not having to worry about driving 50+ miles each day to get our daughter to clinic, having people who are helpful and friendly, it has all just been so amazing. My sister and mother had been to a different Ronald McDonald House before, and I knew intellectually what they were and how they basically functioned, but until I was there for my own family, because my daughter needed it, I just didn't understand. These people are amazing and rapidly becoming our extended family.
So, if you can give, anything is appreciated. It won't go to waste, it won't be used frivolously. If it doesn't go to medical expenses for our sweet little girl, it will go to these two places to help support the continued work of helping other families and children in need.
