The leadership of CUPE 3904 Contract Academics of Ryerson University were devastated to learn that Amir Kiumarsi, our Unit 2 Chief Steward, was one of several people injured in Monday's horrific vehicular assault on Yonge Street near Finch Avenue in Toronto.
Amir Kiumarsi
Amir is a chemistry instructor at Ryerson University’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education and Amir has served as CUPE3904 Unit 2 Chief Steward for the past four years.
Amir is more than our colleague—he is our friend and union brother who is dedicated to his fellow members, Continuing Education students, and to the betterment of working conditions and learning conditions at Ryerson.
What are these funds for?
We are in contact with Amir’s family and he is currently receiving treatment in the ICU at Sunnybrook Hospital for the injuries he sustained yesterday.
Amir is a committed family man and as a precarious contract worker we know the struggle facing Amir and his family. As he begins his recovery from yesterday’s tragic incident, we are setting up this fund to help him, his wife and three children.
Any funds contributed to this campaign will be sent to Amir's family to help with expenses related to his recovery and to support him and his family through this difficult time.
We are keeping him and his family in our thoughts and our prayers.
