Andrys Basten Nocturne Award
The Andrys Basten Nocturne Award is an initiative by several of Andrys' closest online friends to perpetuate her musical legacies, particularly within the San Francisco area where she lived and worked. Fred Feinberg is leading negotiations to establish the exact name and other details of the award, but it will likely be bestowed under the auspices of an accredited San Francisco music organization (e.g., the Chopin Foundation, San Francisco Chapter) to a young musician judged to offer the best performance of a Chopin nocturne in an annual, area piano competition. In addition to a cash prize, the winner will be given a plaque, and his/her performance will be uploaded to AndrysBasten.org. We intend to offer the award perpetually or for as long as funding permits, so all donations to the GoFundMe campaign administered by Elizabeth Lowrey (on behalf of her aunt, Gerrie Collins) are most welcome and appreciated.
