Kylie Welch, a young mother of five children, was brutally attacked by a dog to save her daughter. On Sunday, April 9th, Kylie was volunteering at an animal rescue shelter with her four-year-old daughter Emaly. While on a walk, a dog went to attack Emaly. Seeing this, Kylie threw herself between the dog and her daughter. The details of the attack are horrifying, but in the barest of details, Kylie used her arms to tear the dog away and to protect herself. And it is her arms that were savaged. She was left critically injured; having to be life flighted to a Pittsburgh hospital. Since then, Kylie has undergone two surgeries to save her arms. The initial prognosis is unclear, but she will remain in the hospital for weeks, and with months of rehabilitation in the future.
