ANTI GUN VIOLENCE SCHOOL TOUR!

A WAKE-UP CALL TO TODAY’S YOUTH
Namel “Tapwaterz” Norris and Ricardo “Rickfire” Velasquez formed the Hip Hop duo, 4 Wheel City, after becoming paralyzed from gun violence as teenagers. For over a decade they have brought their story of survival and redemption to audiences across the county, introducing a “hip” new way to engage today’s youth in a conversation about violence and its consequences through a combination of storytelling and musical performances.

Hence in light of all the tragic mass shootings happening in schools around the country like Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, where 20 children and six educators were killed in 2012, and more recent at a high school in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 earlier this year, 4 Wheel City has decided to announce the  “MY PEER MEDIATION ANTI VIOLENCE TOUR” to inspire HOPE, PEACE, TOLERANCE and TALKING IT OUT rather than shooting it out amongst today’s youth! And started this Gofundme because they need your help to raise $100,000 to make it happen. Read Below!

The youth of this country are in DESPERATE need of voices like ours to help encourage an alternative way for them to deal with conflicts other than violence especially (gun violence).  Young people of America are being killed in mass numbers. A Lot of these shootings are being done by teens and young adults with complicated issues who have lost hope and feel pressured.  While lawmakers and many activist think the best way to solve this issue is to enforce stricter & harsher gun laws,  we have come up with a better practical solution, “THE MY PEER MEDIATION ANTI VIOLENCE TOUR” to inspire HOPE, PEACE, TOLERANCE and TALKING IT OUT rather than shooting it out!

As survivors of gun violence happening to us as teens ourselves we understand and can relate to the situation from first hand experience.  Hence while changing guns laws is a good start, that only solves half the issue. It doesn't do anything to deal with whatever issue a troubled at risk youth may be dealing with to make him or her want to pick up a gun in the first place. That's where our story, music, and the My Peer Mediation Tour comes in!  We strongly believe from our experiences that the only way to truly help this problem is to get to the MINDS and HEARTS of the youth and get them to realize that guns & violence is not the answer from the inside so they are not tempted to pick up a gun or even see it as an option to solve conflicts in the first place. THAT'S THE GOAL!

The title of the tour itself  “THE MY PEER MEDIATION ANTI VIOLENCE TOUR”  is named after a song we made called “MY PEER MEDIATION” to promote these positive themes musically. The message of the song inspires young people to be patient through the frustrations and pressures they face growing up. In addition provides a cool sound and way to engage them in the process of peaceful conflict resolution. Music especially hip hop music is the music of young people and a perfect way to communicate the message of peace.  We have been performing the song at assemblies in schools locally in Collaboration with the “Dare To Dream Organization” (check out the video below to see us performing at school in our hometown the Bronx NYC).
“THE MY PEER MEDIATION ANTI VIOLENCE TOUR” will be an extension of the work we have been doing with Dare To Dream, and our Welcome to Reality Program (which consists of a motivational lecture combined with an inspiring hip hop performance to encourage students to stay in school, make responsible decisions, and stop teen violence). However “THE MY PEER MEDIATION ANTI VIOLENCE TOUR” will focus more on SOLUTIONS and how to deal with conflict and having patience in a tough situation in order to find a peaceful non violent solution using what to us as a "reality check".
We are planning to kick off the tour during the 2018 - 2019 school year, traveling to cities most affected by gun violence including Florida and Chicago. Each presentation will be approximately 1 hour long.  We will perform these songs, share our story and show the videos Welcome To Reality and My Peer Mediation Videos.  At the end of every performance there will be a Q&A the students will receive at packet including a “guns down 4s up!” wristband, tee shirt, information resources for numbers they can call for help if they need to talk, a copy of the song, and a My Peer Mediation Peace pledge that they will have to sign and make a pledge for peace.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES:

A large portion of the funds raised will be used to purchase a wheelchair accessible van so we can travel to the schools in different cities and states around the country and the schools won’t have to worry about covering the travel cost which is difficult for them to do most times. The rest of the funds will go towards covering the cost of the materials to give to the students, expenses, and the production of a music video for MY PEER MEDIATION song which will be shown during each presentation at the schools. The visual is needed to help further the story and message. It brings the songto life and gives the students a lasting impression. Here is an example of our latest music video for our program & song “Welcome to Reality”. It was partially funded by generous donations we raised on kickstarter a few years ago and send a powerful message to the youth as well!

And here is a bonus message from Our Big Uncle & Hip Hop Legend SNOOP DOGG who supports the cause as well!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT AS WELL! LETS SAVE THE YOUTH AND PUT AN END TO GUN VIOLENCE TOGETHER! #GUNSDOWN4SUP!!!!
