ARCADEFIRE! [The Redemption of Billy Mitchell] is the latest MUSICAL IndyFringe offering from Indy's Catalyst Repertory Theatre. In fact, this show is the 10th IndyFringe for Catalyst Rep's founders! IndyFringe is a 10 day theatre festival in the Mass Ave cultural district of Indianapolis, Indiana. Catalyst Repertory  got its start preforming yearly at our local Fringe and it's a tradition we are proud to keep and play in! Arcadefire! [The Redemption of Billy Mitchell] will be one of 65 shows playing at this huge festival. To celebrate our decade of ambitious, original IndyFringe scripts, the Catalyst team wants to bring royalty to the IndyFringe Theatre Festival. Video game royalty. 

So, what's ARCADEFIRE! [The Redemption of Billy Mitchell] going to be about , you ask? (And no, not that band your sister listened to during her phase...)

Arcadefire! [The Redemption of Billy Mitchell] is Catalyst's original company-created musical. Inspired by the tumultuous true story of Donkey Kong's world record and the documentary, King of Kong: Fist Full of Quarters, some hear-say around the most famous scandal in video gaming, and some other shit we blatantly made up....Arcadefire! is an hour-long musical comedy following the redemption road of the greatest gamer of all time, or at least the cockiest, Billy Mitchell. The book is by Casey Ross with original music by Christopher McNeely. ARCADEFIRE! [The Redemption of Billy Mitchell] promises to be an irreverent, wacky, and inspirational journey back to Fun Spot Arcade and the good old days of gaming: 

Billy Mitchell, Video Game Player of the Century, had it all, until a 2007 cult-classic documentary brought the gamer back into the public eye. After the explosive premiere of documentary, King of Kong: Fist Full of Quarters, Billy is facing the worst accusation of video gamer can face: They're saying he cheated. When his world-records are removed from the score boards and the MAME-shaming begins, it's up to video gaming's most polarizing figure to start dodging some barrels!

For a lot of us gaming laymen, we learned the name ‘Billy Mitchell’ from the cult-hit documentary, King of Kong: Fist Full of Quarters...if at all. To classic gaming fans, he is a God. In his home town, he’s the ‘Pacman’ guy, the first man to ever achieve a perfect score in Pacman, seeing the end of the game, himself, and to the internet, he’s a cheating fraud, a con man, and a hot-sauce slinging liar...and some other words that were too colorful for a GoFundMe campaign and that you’ll have to come to the show to hear. But what's Billy Mitchel to himself? Maybe he's just a family man, who plays a little hardcore Donkey Kong from time to time. Hopefully, by the end of the show, we’ll help you make up your own mind...
