Abby Reinke Elementary School just won the Odyssey of the Mind State Championship!
The kids brought home the GOLD, but now they're asking for your help to go to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals!
Please donate what you can to help these girls as they head to Iowa State University to represent their school, TVUSD, and the great state of California at the 37th Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition May 25 - 28, 2016.
What is Odyssey of the Mind? It is an internationally recognized "hands-on" competitive program that teaches students creative problem-solving methods. By tapping into creativity and through encouraging imaginative paths to problem-solving, students learn skills that will provide them with the ability to solve problems -great and small- for a lifetime. Millions of kids worldwide have been working hard perfecting their solutions to OotM problems and competing within their regions, states and countries. Only a few advance to World Finals — these teams represent the best of the best creative minds.
After advancing from the Coastal Regional Tournament, our all girl team competed against 24other schools from throughout the state. Within the constraints of an 8-minute original skit, all written, choreographed, and performed solely by the students, this team delivered a stellar performance using their anti-bullying message that "You shouldn't judge people by their looks. Just imagine how boring the world would be if everybody was the same".
Winning the State Championship is an amazing achievement for this ARES Odyssey team, and they are looking for support to help them get to the World Finals in Iowa. With school budget cuts at an all time high, school enrichment programs, like Odyssey of the Mind, require private financing to operate. The team's travel and registration costs will exceed $15,000 and they would appreciate your generous donation through one of our sponsorship packages or any amount you would like to help support these future leaders and entrepreneurs.
