CHILDREN'S ARTS FESTIVAL
OUR FUTURE IS IN THEIR HANDS

SNCC Legacy Project's Black Power Chronicles is proud to present ArtSpeaks: it’s a youth thing!  This is a free, one-day, outdoor, hands-on children’s arts and cultural festival that will take place on Saturday, September 30th from 11am-5pm at the African American Civil War Museum in Washington, DC.

Selected artists, educators and cultural icons collaborating with DC Youth will:

PRESENT the arts and ideas of the Freedom Movement to the Black Arts Movement through music, dance, poetry, storytelling, and crafts;

CREATE 6 pop-up portable exhibit panels that highlight and reflect the historic eras of the 60s, 70s, and 80s;

CELEBRATE the 50th Anniversary of artist/activist Topper Carew’s “The New Thing” youth arts program, founded in DC in 1967 for inner city youth.

Help us reach our fundraising goal to facilitate enriched creative experiences that will inspire our future generations.  Thanks to generous funding support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) and the Humanities Council of Washington, DC, our organization is almost there but need to raise $5,000 to complete our grant match requirement.

PLEASE MAKE YOUR DONATION TODAY.

Thank you.
