My name is Natashia Milburn, but my students call me Ms. Shia! (She-uh)

With creative, kind, and compassionate care, I teach mindful art classes for the after-school program at Broderick Recreation Center in the City of Pinellas Park. I worked at this rec center for almost two years and during that time, I built relationships with the children there unlike any others that I’ve had. As a caregiver for more than half of my life, that’s saying something! I provided them with attentive care in a fun and silly environment where they knew they could be themselves and were safe to do so. They provided me with unlimited inspiration and led me to realize my next step in life, to become an Art Therapist.

Upon leaving the position to further my education, I was unable to stay away from Broderick for very long as I truly love my students there and they love me right back. Initially, I offered classes that the guardians would pay for, but due to financial setbacks, I have not been able to continue my classes. I’m reaching out to the community for support so that I can continue to teach these unique art classes to kids who need them the most.

Academically seasoned in mindful practices including breathing techniques, I like to incorporate nature and using our senses to maintain our mental health and wellness. Each art class will provide the kids an opportunity to think critically and get creative with a loving and nurturing professional educator.

The promotion of intellectual growth, self-empowerment, and respect is centered in every class that I teach. Through inclusivity coupled with multicultural diversity, I bring a unique style of teaching art so youth from various backgrounds feel invited and included.

I pride myself in creating a comfortable and calm environment so youth feel respected and encouraged to artistically express themselves without fear of judgment. Sponsoring an artist will allow for attendance from youth who may not have the financial opportunity to do so.

5 Dollars= Basic art supply restock (pencils, colored paper, etc.)

10 Dollars= One student for Signs w/ Shia class

15 Dollars= One student for Shia Simple class

25 Dollars= One student for Shia Little Longer class

50 Dollars= Art supplies and materials for up to 3 classes!
