Arwen's surgery costs
Donation protected
Our sweet little 2.5 year old Sphynx, Arwen, is currently very ill. She's been diagnosed with an aseptic abdomen and needs emergency surgery. That's $6000 we don't have, but we'll find a way for her somehow. We can't let our precious little girl leave us yet.
Update January 2015: Our beautiful Arwen lost her battle with FIP last week. I've just been too heartbroken to post before now. We know we did everything we could for our precious little Sphynx princess, and she is now at peace, chasing butterflies and purple mousies at the Rainbow Bridge.
We know that she had a wonderful, spoiled life, filled with love, although one that was far too short. She was only 2.5 years. We are very glad that we were home with her over the holidays, so her last three weeks with us were filled with lots of care and attention.
The night before the day she stopped eating and using the litterbox, she kneaded me and was purring. It was as if she was telling me that she loved me, that she knew she was loved, and that it was time to let her go. The next day she stopped eating (she would swallow when I'd place food in her mouth), stopped using the litterbox, and would only drink when we put the water bowl right in her face. We knew then it was time to let her go.
Before she left us, we took DNA swabs from her cheeks, and we are going to send that off, along with all her lab work, to the folks at SOCK FIP. Hopefully our precious girl can help find a cure for this horrible disease, or find a way to screen for those cats who are genetically susceptible to developing FIP.
There is an Arwen-shaped empty space now in our hearts, but we are trying to remember all the joy, love, and beauty she brought into our lives. She was so full of life and love, she must have used up her full lifetime of energy and affection in her 2.5 years. She was a special little girl, and our precious princess. She will forever live on in our hearts.
Thank you for all your caring, your support, and your donations. We appreciate it.
