Help ASAP Get to Nationals!
Donation protected
The Alabama Student Association for Poetry, or ASAP , will be traveling to Chicago in August for the National Poetry Slam, a competition involving the nation's best poetry teams from across the country. This will be ASAP's first year competing at NPS. Our goal is to raise $2,500 by August 11th to pay for registration, lodging in Chicago, gas money for the drive from Tuscaloosa, and food. So far, we have raised a little over $1,800 by putting on various events throughout the state of Alabama.
Your support would be greatly appreciated. As a brand new organization here in Tuscaloosa, ASAP has focused on connecting our university to the community and using poetry as a bridge. We want to represent our city and and your donation would allow us to not only compete, but learn from other creatives who do the same kind of work we do.
ASAP is dedicated to building and maintaining a thriving poetry scene here at the University of Alabama, as well as in the greater Tuscaloosa area. As an organization, ASAP's main goals are to organize monthly poetry events, facilitate writing workshops, and compete in slam poetry competitions across the nation. We believe that poetry as a method of expression is beneficial to students because it serves as a vehicle to generate dialogue, share stories, learn about others, and grow.
