Ashley’s Action Trackchair
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Ashley. I am 18 years old and so far, I have beaten a lot of odds. I was born with a very rare neurodegenerative disease called Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T). I was able to walk up until I was 8 yrs old, The -doctors gave me a life expectancy of 10 years old, Like I said, I have beaten the odds so far!
A-T affects my fine and gross motor skills which makes it hard for me to talk, walk, read and write.
Even though I have been confined to a power chair for 10 years, it doesn’t stop me from dreaming! I am really active even though I can only be in a wheelchair.
We have a camp and I love to go on my golf cart to visit all my friends and their dogs, and use my power chair, to ride around the paved roads. At home I go and visit my Nana. I like this, but I wish I could do more! I’d like to be able to go on the beach, hike nature trails, go off road at camp, investigate and play in my yard at home, and play in the snow again. 10 years ago, when I could still walk, I really loved doing this stuff. My dream is to be able to do this again, and now I’ve found a way and I need your help!
With an action trackchair I could take my life to another level of independence. Just think, I would be able to enjoy all of the things I used to be able to do, even playing in our Western New York snow!
My family is hoping to purchase the action trackchair for me by May 2019 so I can experience the summer like I used to. Unfortunately, The action trackchair is not covered by our insurance so we are turning to fundraising to get this chair for me. Our goal is to cover the action trackchair with the proper options that I need. Please help me to beat the odds again and remain as independent as I possibly can. Donations of any amount will help make my dream come true.
Please check out the link I have attached so you can see the amazing things I would be able to do on the action trackchair. This is the official site
