Ashlyn's School Tuition
Donation protected
Ashlyn Buchanan, age 13, came to me early last Fall and asked if she could go to the most prestigious private school in Oklahoma for high school. Honestly, I laughed when she asked me. I have been a single mother with little to no financial support from her dad for 9 years. So this was not even in the spectrum of possibilites in my mind. Then, she took it upon herself to look up the financial aid opportunities and sent me emails of information. This being my super organized and self disciplined child so it wasn't a surprise that she found out the information I needed to know on her own accord. At this time in our lives, things had calmed down quite a bit from the crazy chaos of my situation so I could see more in the future for my children. Their dad was clean and sober and in their lives for the first time in years. I saw my children transform simply by being able to say the words "my Dad" in their every day conversations and it be present tense instead of past tense. So, I talked with him. We agreed to just see if it was at all a possibility and I completed the application. We went to the first parent meet and greet for the school and I was in tears by the end of it. My mind and heart had been opened to dream bigger for my daughter. We went through the long process of being considered and in March of this year we found out that she was accepted! Admissions called and said we want her! Then in May we found out that she had been approved for financial aid!! AMAZING!!! The only issue now is that leaves me with $5000 left of tuition as well as other school expenses. I have been toiling with creating this Gofundme for my child to go to a prestigious school and what people would think. I asked a few people for their advice. They said absolutely but tell the whole story. So the rest of the story is... My children's father hasn't communicated in almost a month now and I am out $600 mo in childsupport that was going to pay for the balance. So, I am turning to anyone who knows us and strongly believes in education to consider donating any amount. One of the biggest differences in my life since I was a teenager, is how much I value education. With Ashlyn's natural ability to be goal-oriented and self-disciplined,Im just curious to see how far she can get in life. We have until July 1st for the 1st payment plus books and activity
fees ($1100 in total) then the rest of the expenses will be due for school starts and monthly payments for the tuition. Thank you from the bottom of this Mama's heart for any donation we receive. It is truly an investment.
