An Aspergers' Computer Programmer

Update:
Price has been drastically lowered as there is no longer a need to gather funds for Internet Access, we got that covered already!

Who we are:

A group of coworkers, looking to give a blessed Christmas present to one of our own.  Shhh, it's a secret, so if you know who this is, don't tell her!

Who we're raising money for:
A dear co-worker and her family.  In an attempt at making a long story short:  We have a dear co-worker who is struggling right now just to make ends meet.  She is a single mother of 5 with children ranging from 3yrs to 15yrs old, one of them being a child with Aspergers Syndrome, living in a renovated barn to keep costs low for her family.  She is a loving and caring mother, that shows up for work every day with a smile on her face, works her 40 hours without complaint, and always makes sure there is plenty of good home cooked meals on the table.  But it's the extra things, like birthday and Christmas presents that can barely fit in the budget.

So here's what we want to do.  Currently the family does not own a computer, and has never had internet at home.  They share a few cell phones (the mothers and the eldest sons) for any online activities.  We'd like to get a computer with monitor, as many months of internet access possible, and possibly some software and games for the family to use.  Primarily we hope to help with her son that currently struggles with Aspergers to get into Computer Programming which has been shown to be an ideal occupation for people with Aspergers Syndrome.  Her son is absolutely brilliant, and loves working with the sciences, so we feel this would be an excellent fit for him.  At the same time, you will be providing this family with a modern computer which the children will be able to use for their school work, something that has almost become a requirement this day and age.

How the money will be used:
The primary use of funds will be put towards purchasing a high end desktop computer and monitor.  The idea is to get them something that will last many years, be able to keep up with the software and games out there, and have a long warranty coverage.  Funds beyond that will go towards paying for internet access at the home.  And if there is enough excess, funds will go towards purchasing software, training materials, and games the whole family can enjoy.  I'll be sure to notarize everything I spend the funds on for all to see.

How soon we need the funds:
Due do slow funds, pushing this back past Christmas maybe a few months.  Trying to think of how I can make the best of whatever funds are gathered.

Why this means so much:
As mentioned above, this is a dear co-worker of ours.  She's a dedicated and hardworking mother who has fell on hard times ever since her husband stepped away.  She is the primary caretaker of their 5 children, and does her best to raise them all well on a low income job.
