Aubree Gained Her Wings

Update 3/9/18: Aubree Lei Kinney gained her wings and flew to heaven at 11:43am this morning. Pray for her family as they grieve the loss of her beautiful soul.

Update as of 3/1/18: Aubree is fading, her little body just can't keep up anymore. Even with a ventilator she has stoped breathing more than once in the past 48 hrs. Please keep this little girl and her family in your prayers as they prepare for the unthinkable.

On December 9, 2017, Aubree (age 7) was a passenger inside one of the two vehicles involved in a head on collision. She received CPR at the accident scene and was then life flighted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Aubree has major injuries such as a broken neck, damaged spinal cord, brain swelling, and a collapsed lung just to name a few. Aubree is currently on life support as she is unable to breathe on her own and has not been responsive since this tragedy took place. As of 12/11/2017, the doctors have informed the family they are 99.9 sure Aubree’s injuries will leave her quadriplegic.

This is going to be a very long road to recovery mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially.

Aubree’s family has not left her side and has no intentions to walk out of that hospital without their little girl.

Let me introduce you to 7 year old Aubree Kinney prior to this accident. Aubree suffered a stroke inside her mother’s womb before her birth. She then began having seizures and spent the first 6 weeks of her life in the hospital then released with a feeding tube. Aubree was finally able to be fed without the feeding tube after 30 days.

Aubree’s body doesn’t produce three main hormones of her pituitary that you need to survive. Thyroid, growth and cortisol. Cortisol is your stress hormone so her body cannot recover on its own. It controls everything from blood pressure and sugars to temperature.

The first 3 years of her life were spent in physical, occupational and speech therapy to get her to function as a normal person.

Aubree takes growth shots, daily medications, and goes every 3 months for blood work for her adrenal insufficiency.

Despite the everyday struggles Aubree was a happy, playful, full of life 7 year old little girl who loves unicorns and Star Wars (Finn & Yoda). She also loved playing with her 2 sisters ages 10 and 14 and a step sister age 9.

We are raising funds to assist this devastated family during their time of need to help cover all the additional cost unexpected just weeks before Christmas. The family will need a vehicle to accommodate Aubree along with several medical equipments and modifications to their home for accessibility for Aubree. All funds will be disbursed to James Tolhurst (mother’s fiancé) for the care of Aubree and their household.

Any donation is appreciated and nothing is too small.

If you would like to assist with meal cards to assist with the cost of meals while staying at the hospital please contact the Retail Manager at the hospital his name is Josh Christ, at [phone redacted] and request a gift card to be delivered to Aubree Kinney’s room for the family to use. Any amount can be added to the card.

Thank you in advance and on behalf of little Aubree and her family.
