Autism Shouts Now

We are a group of Autistic people who are starting a non-profit to support the present needs of Autistic people. Unlike the highly controversial Autism Speaks, which has no Autistic members and seeks to demonize Autism, we celebrate the unique gifts of our way of life and seek to promote Autism positive culture.
We have plans to open residential schools for Autistic people, with Autistic teachers, run by Autistic people. We have plans to create sensory-friendly supportive housing co-ops for Autistic people so that we can care for one another in a dignified manner rather than be sent off to institutions that do not truly understand Autism. We have plans to create media to share our culture and way of life with the rest of the world so that they can understand the beauty of Autistic cognition.
Some people underestimate Autistics, unaware that much of our disability is due to lack of support and cultural connection. We know that in an Autism-positive environment, being Autistic is to be a member of a neuro-cognitive/linguistic/cultural minority, and not to be simply "disabled". Our mission is to turn that innate awareness into reality by building the systems necessary so that we can all achieve our potential.
The first step in achieving our goals of making all people able to do everything they are capable of is to form a legally recognized non-profit. Money donated to this GoFundMe at this point will be used towards hiring a lawyer who can guide us through this step of the process.
