(sounds good right? Many of the time and work mostly for free or Stipend only, I am still poor with not big Income, I am a CEO but not paid position for me Yet... )
About My Transition:
I came out to my family when I was 18 likes a gay boy but not happy and start my transtion in NYC when was 23 y/o, and able to count on emotional/love support from my family. Now I'm proud to share that they understand and respect my goals and ambitions to serve my community, and to be the best LATINO/ WOMAN I can be.
I started my medical transition about 14 years ago, and have been paying for the cost of my hormones out of pocket this entire time.
This is the year that I will finally pursue my Gender Affirming Surgery, a goal that has seemed out of reach for me, as a trans latina woman struggling to get by for so many years. My story isn't different then so many of my trans Latina sisters or trans sister (sex work, lack of access to education, unstable housing, incarceration, violence). I feel lucky to have accomplished so many of my goals (a full-time job, education, stable housing), while facing so much stigma and discrimination just fo being who I am.
You can help me reach this goal. Please consider donating whatever you can.
I'm asking my community to help me raise $35,
000. This is going to cover the cost of my surgery, as well as my travel expenses to the surgeon of my choice. Please understand that I know this is a huge expense. Like so many other activisits in our community, I am working towards the day when all insurace companies are forced to remove transgender exclusions, and we can finally have access to the care we deserve, without relying the generosity of familia, primos, and supporters.
A Note About Reward Levels:
So many of these crowd-funding campaigns offer reward levels. You should know, I'm not an artist, musician, or performance artists, I won't be able to send you a painting or personal song. What I'm good at is creating a safe space for my Trans Community to access resources and find support - and I need to keep doing that every day. But I do want to say thank you, on a very personal level, for your donation to a very personal cause.
