Copper Collective: Creative Photography and Arts Studios
Hello everyone!
We are a group of photographers that have joined together to create Copper Collective. Copper Collective is located in the lower level of the historic Omar Bakery Building in Omaha between Dundee and Benson. There is a strong photography community in Omaha and we wanted to have a space with reliable resources for local photographers to practice their photography- commercial and fine art. However, we do welcome all mediums of art as there is enough space for all of us with the opportunity to expand within the building.
What We Have:
Currently we have 4 large photo studios. These studios include back drops, props, exposed brick walls, an 18% Gray wall and a rain simulator. Lighting and equipment rentals are available. We are in the lower level of the building so we have enough space for auto photography. There is also a break room, a consultation space for members and their clients, and plenty of open space for busy work.
What We Are Working Towards:
This fundraiser is for expanding and installing a darkroom in our space. The darkroom would have several enlargers, a large darkroom sink with developing trays and all the odds and ends that make a darkroom run. We are also going to see if we can set aside space for developing film.
Donations will go towards the installation of ventilation for safety, chemistry to develop prints, equipment and accessories to tie everything together.
We have had a number of inquiries from local artists and students about the darkroom so we would like to raise the funds as soon as possible! We want to get to work!
Why Is This Important To Us?
We want to give artists access to facilities and equipment they need in order to create work.
There are 2 large photography programs in Omaha and Lincoln and we feel it is important for students to have access to our resources during their time at school and have the confidence to know those resources will not disappear after they graduate.
We want the community to be involved. After we have the darkroom installed we want to host workshops about traditional black and white photography and early alternative photographic practices. We want to get the community excited not just about photography itself but the history of photography that has brought us to where we are today.
Thank you so much for taking the time in reading our GoFundMe page. We appreciate any donation made as that is a donation to our dream of expanding our artist collective! Being able to create art and express ourselves is so important to us and we want to extend that to our local artists and our community!
Thank you again!

Future Projects & Improvements:
2 Art Galleries that will feature work from local and regional artists.
Installation of a glass garage door to work as a storefront for the gallery.
A rotating graffiti wall for working street artists.
