“A bunch of chopsticks cannot be broken.” —Khmer Proverb. Meaning: when people come together in one purpose; they can't be broken or defeat. If people go alone, it likes a single chopstick. It will be broken easily. This Khmer proverb teaches us the spirit of community coming together to each other out when it needed.

I decided to accept and go to The CrossFit Games 2019  . IF I DON’T, WHO WILL GO FOR CAMBODIA? My ultimate goal in participating in the CrossFit Games is to represent my country, Cambodia. To able to represent my country, it means we don't give up, we don't bail out before the game, we are moving forward. Our spirit is 'Dorsu' means persistent or keep it up in Cambodian.

My full name is Udom KHY but I go by with Kobe. I was born and raised in Kandal province, just outside of Phnom Penh.  Though I have no fitness background, working hard as the first child of a farming family made me tough. Carrying water from the Mekong river to our home, cycling 12km everyday to school, and plowing the field with the cow were my forms of fitness as a child.

I started CrossFit 5 years ago after I promised a friend from work to try a class with here I fell in love with CrossFit and the community. Everyone so welcoming and we push each other everyday to get stronger and fitter. I have made so many good friends and found the love of my life because of CrossFit. It's not the CrossFit workouts that give you strength and good health, but the community that lifts you up and supports each other no matter what. Every workout is tough and intense, but there are always friends there to cheer you on, yell at you to get up, give you water when you feel like you're going to pass out, and to celebrate with you. CrossFit has changed my life and has made me believe that we can achieve anything in life when people have faith in you.

I am not going to the CrossFit Games alone. I represent my country and CrossFit community: CrossFit Amatak and CrossFit YiQi. I have coaches, friends, and family who stand behind me and believe in me.

While I have received my official invitation to the CrossFit Games, it does not cover/include any of the costs associated with competing. You can imagine the financial burden of traveling to Madison, Wisconsin, U.S. for the CrossFit Games to be held from July 29th to August 4th, 2019. A rough estimation of my expenses for competing in the CrossFit Games is outlined below:

Roundtrip Flight = $2,500.00
Hotel = $2,079.00 for 10 days stay during the registration on July 28 and game ends on 6 August
Registration Fee = $211.00
Meals = $240.00
Visa Fees = $160.00
Insurance = $70.00

Total = $5,260.00

Competing in the CrossFit Games would be a dream come true. Any support you can provide to help make this dream a reality is sincerely appreciated. I hope you will all join my journey to the CrossFit Games by following my Instagram: @jackedkobe
