Memorial Tree for Andy DelVesco

Donation protected
My name is Jessica and I have created this fund on behalf of my cherished late friend, Andy DelVesco.

Andy and her loyal dog, Shay Panda, tragically had their lives cut short on September 21, 2015 at our apartment in Westwood, CA. Andy and Shay's sudden passing affected so many lives and has left us all with an indescribable amount of devastation, confusion, and grief. In the past 7 months, we have not had a place to go to mourn Andy's loss and remember her magical spirit by, so I wanted to change that.

Andy was a senior at UCLA and had a passion for people, animals, nature, and traveling. She was a truly incredible individual who continuously demonstrated positivity, compassion, inclusiveness, loyalty, friendship, and love to everyone she met. Her beloved companion, Shay, joined Andy in her quest to comfort others and make them smile. Among many valuable lessons, Andy taught us how important it is to embrace each day and turn it into an adventure--just as she did.

After many months of discussion with UCLA faculty which led me to realize how difficult a student memorial would be to implement, I am humbled and excited to bring good news! UCLA has agreed to set up the Tree Adoption Program at the UCLA Mathias Botanical Garden, one of Andy's favorite spots on campus. This dedication program is the first of its kind and will give us and others the opportunity to remember our loved ones by for years to come. We are very grateful to UCLA.

The Tree Adoption Program will enable us to dedicate an iconic tree, plaque, and interpretive environmental education and conservation panel in Andy's honor. I truly believe Andy's memorial tree will be a beautiful way for her dear family and friends to visit and remember her by.  UCLA has requested a $7,500 donation to support the memorial, as well as Botanical Garden development and maintenance. Please join me in raising money over the next couple weeks for a cause that I so dearly believe in--allowing Andy's loving spirit to continue bringing happiness and inspiration to others through nature for years to come. And, most importantly, this memorial will serve as one of the greatest gifts we can give the wonderful DelVesco family in Austin, TX, who cherished and loved Andy so much.

Andy loved spreading joy and making others happy--she was and will always be our beautiful ray of sunshine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Andy 's memorial.

With love and gratitude,
Jessica
