Baby Nicolas Heart Surgery

Life happens in the most unusual of ways although not always good and sometimes quite the challenge. Within the 26th week of our pregnancy, we were faced with life changing news that we’re still struggling to grasp. We found that our baby son, Nicolas, will need immediate open heart surgery when brought into this world. I don’t know how anyone can imagine a newborn going through so much pain let alone a chance he may not make it. We, like many parents, had done everything right and even with genetic testing, still, an anomaly has come to haunt us that affects only .04% of the population in the world: D Transposition of the Great Arteries.


Thankfully, we’ve been grateful for a team of some of the best doctors we could find that’s going to do everything they can to help us at every step of our baby son’s journey. Despite the probability that haunts us at night, they assure us they’re doing everything in their power to give Nicolas the best chance of life possible. Let alone, as long as he’s in my wife, he’s as safe as can be.

However, this team is on the other side of the state being a few hours away. We’ll be traveling towards the end of the pregnancy this trip each week with our 17 month old daughter to give Nicolas the best chance we can. The pregnancy is also fragile where my wife cannot move much without triggering contractions. Nicolas needs to stay as long as he can in the womb to ensure safe passage.

We’re asking $15K to not only help with the medical expenses but in case of any extra testing, all the traveling we’ll be doing, and no one to leave our toddler daughter with hence some extra help around home.
