Baby Robyn / NYC Triathlon
On April 18th, my little niece, baby Robyn Beckett, arrived into the world a little ahead of schedule, 9 weeks ahead in fact. She had a large tumor on her neck and before she was born her chances were not good. A team of 35 was assembled to deliver her and give her a fighting chance.
Several major surgeries later and it’s clear that she’s a scrapper. Although it’s often been two steps forward and one step back, she is getting stronger every day.
It’s a long road ahead as she’s looking at up to a year in hospital, and although that sounds bad, she is surrounded by the most incredible team of people. It’s very difficult to find the words to describe the team who helped get her to this point and who continue to care for her with such love every day. Heroes is probably a good place to start.
While the people are truly incredible, they could always do with more money. So if anyone would like to sponsor me for the upcoming NYC Triathlon on July 1st, it’ll be going to a very worthy cause, the Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Here's a bit more about the organization:
Since 1979, The Children's Medical Research Foundation, Inc. has been dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and their families affected by childhood illness and disease.
Proud of our long history, our primary focus has been to support Ireland's leading pediatric research institution, the National Children's Research Centre based at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin in Dublin, Ireland. Through the continued generosity of our donors, we have been able to not only ensure the highest standard of care for Ireland's sickest children, but also to fund the work of world-leading scientists to better understand serious illnesses, so they can be more quickly diagnosed, more effectively treatment and even cured.
A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Foundation is based in NYC and is affiliated with the Children's Medical Research Foundation in Crumlin, Ireland.
It's a really great cause so anything you can give would be very much appreciated!
