2023 Bailey's Dream 1st Generation Scholarship

A private scholarship funded by Montgomery Blair High School alumni, community members, colleagues and friends of retired School Counselor, Charlain Bailey. This scholarship provides financial support and counseling to graduating seniors from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Maryland that plan to pursue an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or professional certification as a first generation student.

Bailey’s Dream – First Generation Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established by Charlain Bailey. She was a school counselor at Montgomery Blair for eighteen years and a Montgomery County Public School employee for thirty years. Ms. Bailey dedicated her career to supporting students throughout their high school years and assisted them with their post-high school transition plans, including career and college planning/attainment. As a result, Ms. Bailey has developed long-standing mentoring relationships with her former students. Many of those students were first generation, college students.

Through this experience, she realized the transformative power of a college education for first generation students and their families. Upon her retirement in 2018, she decided to continue to be an active member of the Blair community. She partnered with alums to establish the Bailey’s Dream – First Generation Scholarship Fund, Inc.
