Baird's Starting Over...

We had ourselves a great Thanksgiving. Now we were planning to celebrate with our friends on a beautiful Saturday...
We were smoking a turkey and Michael had just checked on it. He walked to the backyard and joined our friends. Within minutes our puppy Chief started barking. He normally does when he hears someone coming so we walked up front to see who might be driving up but found the front porch had caught on fire. We did everything we could within the first few mins but the entire front wall of our log cabin was engulfed within 5 mins and I called 911. The whole house was engulfed within 20 mins. We live far out and no close fire hydrant meant it was a struggle for firefighters to get to us. We are so thankful for the dozens that made it one way or another. They fought for hours to get it out. They were still there when we finally left and knew there was nothing else to do. We lost everything. It went so fast there was no time to get anything out.
Red Cross reached out and is helping already. We have renters insurance and have that process started already. Our friends and family have reached out to help by the dozens. This was suggested as the easiest way for people to help right now. Thank you for the support and being there for us!
As of 11/28/16, Michael has deep 3rd degree burns. He kept saying he was okay. Sunday afternoon it looked bad and I made him go to the doctor, who sent him to Vanderbilt ER and the immediately admitted him to burn unit. With surgery and recovery we will be here till Friday at the earliest.
