Hey all,
For anyone who knows me, you know my love for football and you are aware of the hard work and dedication I have put in over the past 6 years.
For anyone who doesn't know me, I love this game. I love everything about full contact football and I have dedicated a lot of time, money and effort into it.
The last 9 months have required even more blood, sweat and tears than I have experienced in the past because of an incident that happened. I was in a boat fire this past July that put me in the hospital for 2 weeks with second and third degree burns to both of my lower legs. I was fortunate enough to come out of everything with all my limbs and just some deep scarring after surgery. I went through a great depression when the accident happened because I have had my heart set on making the US Women's National Football team in 2017 since I first joined the sport. It has been my ultimate goal to work hard and make the team. So, when I was hospitalized and struggled to walk across the room on a daily basis, I didn't think I was going to be able to bounce back.
I was blessed with an amazing support system and some of the best family and friends a girl could ever ask for. I had motivation every single day from people who never stopped believing in me. I had people that wanted to work with me and help me come back stronger than ever. Chances at being healed enough to make it to the tryouts for the national team were slim but I didn't give up; I couldn't. In only 6 months, I trained and pushed myself to prove that it wasn't time for me to hang up my cleats; that my dream was still attainable.
Well, I'm happy to say that I did it. I worked hard and it paid off. I have made the US Women's National Team! I am still healing to this day but that doesn't stop me from playing ball and continuing to strive for more.
I have made it through the mental training and the physical training to be a part of the team, but I need your help with the rest. Unfortunately, the expenses to be a part of this team are on us as individuals. We have to come up with the funds to be away from our jobs and families for 20 days and have to be able to get to and from training camp/the international tournament. I am honored to be selected as a member of the US National Team and would love to play to represent our country.
Anything helps!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and thank you for any contributions.
