Baltimore Youth Drone Racing League

At Global Air Media our mission is to bring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) centered education to children through the excitement produced by "drones" or Unmanned Aerial Systems. For over a year we have been hosting camps for all ages to learn about the emerging opportunities in the new and innovative technology.  The drone industry is projected to surpass $127b by 2020 according to Pricewaterhousecoopers, and we aim to prepare as many people as possible for the jobs that are available today, as well as the jobs that have yet to come.
In our camps, kids learn all about the applications of drones, ranging from emergency response, structural inspections, to endangered wildlife conservation. 

The Baltimore Drone Prix ; scheduled for april 1st, has already generated tremendous excitement well beyond our own community. We believe this race will serve as a platform to reach kids all across the region and get them interested in a new technology that will impact the way we live our lives. Drone racing is an emerging sport, recently being televised on ESPN, and last summer a teenager won 250k in the Dubai Drone Prix. There's no reason for kids not to be excited about this merger between education, technology, and sport!

To this point we have done a solid job of putting the race together through donations, and community effort, and our own finances, but WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! With your support we can afford better obstacles, better lights, better giveaways, and just generally produce a greater spectacle this opportunity is worthy of.

Additionally, reaching our goal would allow us to continue sponsoring workshops around the area for underpriveledged youth. We would also love to be able to give away some mini quadcopters and t-shirts for some kids to take home as well. Doing so would only encourage them to learn how these amazing machines work, and hopefully expand their career opportunities in the future!
