Help Us Reunite Long Lost Siblings
Donation protected
We are so excited that we will finally be in the same place at the same time, for the FIRST time in our lives!
But it is impossible for us to think about our joy when we know, first hand, that there are many siblings out there who have yet to meet one another at all.
Our story sounds far-fetched—seven siblings separated by adoption, reunited after lifetimes apart—but it is not as rare you think.
Our sister Lisa works in child welfare. She sees sibling groups split up by various circumstances every day.
At my only public reading of our story to date, I met a young woman who is living our exact same story— she is one of 7 siblings who were adopted separately via foster care.
And of course, it is impossible to talk about Kindred Adoption without mentioning the incredible story of Sam and her sister Anais, twin sisters separated at birth and adopted by two different families, one in the United States and one in France!
Many times lack of funds keeps adoptees from reuniting with their siblings or other biological family, even when they all want to. Because the nature of adoption, we all develop primary families and lives separate from one another. It is difficult.
One of Kindred Adoption's goals is providing grants to assist all members of the adoption triad through the rollercoaster of reunion. Please help us support their work. The goal is to give $1,500 to Kindred Adoption to help other siblings like us reunite with one another.
-----
We are seven biological siblings who were adopted by five different familes and grew up apart.
Over the past fifteen years, we have all reunited individually, but all of seven of us have never been in the same place at the same time.
Never.
It's bananas, we know. So bananas, in fact, that one of us wrote a book about it.
And that book is launching in Los Angeles on June 22, 2015.
We would love to be together on the day that our story is released! Funds raised would buy six plane tickets for those of us who don't live in Los Angeles, as well as cover the cost of an air bnb (or similar) for a couple of days.
Airline prices are finicky, and we will try to get the best rates possible. If we succeed, any funds raised above our needs will be donated to Kindred Adoption, (http://www.kindredadoption.org/ ), an organization that supports all members of the adoption triad in the pursuit of reunion.
Please help us *finally* be together in the same place at the same time. There are suggested levels (and rewards!) below, but any amount helps!
We're fun people. And polite. We'll totally write thank you notes like our mothers taught us to.
