"Pit Bull Truth" Billboard Campaign

Donation protected
If you're reading this, you've likely noticed the daily pattern of attacks by a notoriously capricious type of dog. Perhaps you're a mauling victim or have lost a loved one. Or maybe you've lost a family pet. If none of these apply to you, then you've likely read the mountain of studies and statistics that unequivocally prove that this dog is disproportionately more deadly than all other dog breeds combined. You've heard the litany of canned non-arguments put forth by opponents of breed-specific legislation and you're tired of the deception. You want to ban pit bulls.

Over the past several weeks, direct action has been taken in Los Angeles, Holly, MI, Boca Raton, FL, and New York City. The LA and Florida flyer campaigns have been a massive success and have garnered widespread media coverage throughout the country. Circa's video coverage  about the flyer campaign was syndicated by local news websites in nearly every major city in the US, reaching hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people via social media. The digital billboard ad in Michigan  also received local and statewide press coverage on network TV and radio . This billboard prompted the president of the local anti-BSL group to consult her lawyer and have dozens of pit bull advocates call to have the ad removed. This move ultimately backfired and resulted in more media coverage  for the pro-BSL side. Not only that, but the money for the unused billboard time ended up being refunded.

If a few hundred dollars was enough to rattle the cages of the multi-billion dollar pit bull lobby, imagine what a few thousand would accomplish. It's time to kick things up a notch. Locations in nine different states have already been selected as candidates for the billboard campaign. These states include Alabama, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, South Carolina, North Carolina, Minnesota, Texas, and of course, we will revisit Michigan to finish the job there. Designs for these digital billboards will include facts and statistics regarding pit bulls and the dangers they pose to both humans and animals.

Many have asked how they can help contribute to the media blitz on the anti-BSL lobby. This is how. The pro-BSL movement has never before seen this kind of momentum  in turning heads and changing minds. It's unlikely that a pit bull advocate will ever come to their senses, but we can at the very least warn those who might be indifferent or misinformed regarding the pit bull threat. We can also use this energy to apply pressure to local and state lawmakers who may not be acting in the interest of public safety. Banning cities from being able to decide which animals they don't want in their communities is an affront to local governance and common sense. This is clearly an issue that needs to be discussed by the public rather than by lobbyist-funded politicians behind closed doors.

Please donate to this campaign and spread it as far as you possibly can. The more we raise, the more billboards we can put up. As soon as enough funds for a single billboard come in, that billboard will be scheduled, so this doesn't have to hit the goal for the campaign to begin. The billboard in Michigan is especially time-sensitive since we don't know when the local government committee will vote on the anti-BSL bill. It's imperative that we spread this as quickly as possible.

All funds raised will go exclusively towards outdoor marketing such as digital billboards and flyer distribution. Any funds in excess of what is necessary to pay for the billboards will be donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
