Donation protected

We are the Pilipino American Unity for Progress Inc. Houston Chapter, UniPro Houston, and we are asking you to help us bring the SIFA x UniPro Conference and Gala to life.

UniPro Houston is a group of young professionals throughout the state of Texas that have a strong passion for educating and empowering the community. We are currently in the process of developing the very first Collegiate Filipino American conference in the state of Texas at Texas A&M University on April 22, 2017 and would like for you to join us on this journey! This conference is being collaboratively hosted by Southern Intercollegiate Filipino Alliance, SIFA, a collection of 13 Filipino Student Associations, FSA's, spanning across the state of Texas and Oklahoma.

We are aiming to provide a safe space for college students to share experiences and build relationships with one another to further their development as emerging leaders.  Our theme this year is Baon: A Packed Meal for a Journey. Together, we will explore IDENTITY, LEGACY, & EMPOWERMENT through discussion-based workshops in hopes of finding strengths and helping one another grow.

As an individual or organization contributor, you will be recognized as a Proud Sponsor and be featured in our brochure. You will also be invited and honored at the Gala following the Conference for helping us make this happen.

There are many benefits to contributing including:

- Visibility of you and your organization
- Development a College Student Professional Network
- Being part of history, as we embark on the very 1st Filipino American Leadership conference in Texas

Your generous contribution will help us pay for conference and gala expenses including venue, supplies, and our guest speakers:

Jessica Petalio is a Doctoral Student in the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Ph.D Program in Clinical-Community Psychology with an emphasis in indigenous, cultural, and rural psychology. Her current work focuses on Filipina/o American ethnic identity, microaggressions, mental health, and colonial mentality.

Beatrice Tesorero is a San Francisco based High School English teacher specializing in college preparatory expository writing. Also a Master’s student at Saint Mary’s College, her current work examines and challenges current conventions around the Asian American literary canon.

Jeremy Keith Villaluz is an educator and artist currently based in San Francisco State University’s College of Ethnic Studies. His current work explores the relationship between migration and landscape through contemporary art and photography.

We are starting a new and positive experience in Texas, and we want to continue to hold this conference annually by rotating through different host universities. Once again, thank you for taking your time to read our request for your help, and we hope to receive your generous donation.

If you have any more questions regarding the SIFA x UniPro Conference and Gala or Pilipino American Unity for Progress, Inc. (UniPro) please feel free to contact Co-President Mark Sampelo at [email redacted]

We are incredibly thankful for your help and support. Please continue to help us by sharing our GoFundMe. Thank you!
