BB2C Epicenter Expansion
Donation protected
Background Information: The Epicenter is a program of the community group Building Bridges to Careers (BB2C), which was created in 2012. BB2C is dedicated to bridging the gap between education and employment for all students by providing information and experiences, and making connections (buildingbridgestocareers.org).
Epicenter: Marietta Armory Location, opened January 2017. The first phase of the Epicenter established the first small business incubator in Marietta that incorporates youth development programs.
Epicenter Expansion Project: The Building Bridges to Careers (BB2C) Epicenter is a community hub serving a 4 county region. Funds requested will support the expansion of the Epicenter, currently housed in the Marietta Armory, to a larger location. The Epicenter will add a makerspace with three distinct spaces and will have plenty of room to expand. We will also be expanding the capacity of the business incubator and our capacity to help area youth develop a career path.
Students, parents, seniors, businesses, families, tinkerers, researchers, designers, etc. can utilize the Epicenter to build and support their ideas.
What can I do there?
BB2C Epicenter activities planned for the expansion:
1) Small businesses: business mentoring and coaching, management classes and networking, internships, links to business resource providers, shared office resources, hold innovation challenges to spark new ideas;
2) Youth and students: explore careers and try out different ideas, learn from the entrepreneurs-in-residence and Epicenter members through job shadowing, internships, career mentoring, and problem-based learning experiences;
3) Community Members: participate in makerspace workshop programs and classes with experts in a variety of fields available to community members of all ages;
4) Expansion of community networks: provide access to collaboration space activities and a variety of equipment.
