Beach Accessible Wheelchair
Donation protected
The benifactor is a 21-year-old woman with muscular dystrophy. While her body declines, she continues to have great cognitive abilities. She wants to continue to participate in life as normal as possible. She has voiced that one of her biggest deficits is the inability to go to the beach with her friends and family and participate in everyday activities there. She would really benefit from using her electronic wheelchair at the beach if possible. A team of LSU Engineering students will be constructing a specialized wheelchair, by May 2018, that will allow her to be comfortable and in control while on the beach. The main functions of this project are of course to be safe, operate independently, move, and provide comfort. This device will allow her to enjoy a simple activity that most people take for granted.
All funds will go towards materials and manufacturing.
