Mademoiselle Miel Bee Emergency

Our bees are in need of help! All but one of our hives were lost over the winter due to deadly viruses caused by varroa mites. By far the greatest loss we've had, this catastrophe was predicted last year by scientists (recent NPR report). Starting over is beyond our capacity. We need help replacing the bees and getting the apiaries up and running again! Mademoiselle Miel bees not only help sweeten our Honey Bon-bons, but ultimately support the livelihood of flowering plants (including plant-based foods) in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area!

We have been searching for ways to help the bees sustain themselves and survive the winters more successfully. We've found amazing new science that indicates fungi will aid bee immunity and have signed up to be part of a study. Learn more here. 

Funds we raise will go towards:
-New bees, including queens, workers and drones (approximately $200 per package of bees)
-Equipment such as hive boxes, feeders, frames for raising brood and storing honey
-Beekeeping costs (not a cheap job)
