BEEA honey with heart

Help us turn something terrible, into something great! We are the youth of the BEEA honey with heart project and on June 9th two of our bee hives in the Spryfield community were vandalized destroying one entire hive (which means killing approximately 40 000 bees) and leaving another 40 000 bees future uncertain. The actions of these vandals destroyed our honey supply in both hives. The money raised from the sale of the hives directly benefits us, and now with the loss of the honey in two of our hives we will not have the profit required to pay back our initial investment of $6000. Help us raise the needed funds to sustain our program, and continue this amazing project!
Here is a little more about our project!
BEEA honey with heart is a youth led social enterprise project in Nova Scotia that was developed as a result of the Family SOS Healthy Teenz program in partnership with the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Education and Development (CEED). Youth participants in the BEEA honey with heart project will be working with Family SOS Staff, Common Good Solutions Inc. and community partners to implement a business plan, build an apiary, and cultivate a community garden in their community.
The Youth Executive will work along side Family SOS and Common Good Solutions staff to build a sustainable business plan around the sale of the unpasteurized honey produced by the bees. The twelve participants on the Youth Executive Council (ages 12-17) will be responsible for managing and ensuring the wellbeing of the beehives by completing weekly hive checks, maintaining and harvesting food from the community garden plot, collecting the honey, and marketing and selling their product to local customers. Youth will also be working to engage their community on the importance of bees on a global level.
Any help is more than appreciated!
Sincerely,
The BEEA honey with heart Youth Executive Council
