On behalf of our brother, and Officer, Christopher Kudla, we would like to start this campaign called “BELIEVE”! Christopher lives in Romeoville with his wife of 11 years Tricia, and his two daughters Amanda who is 17, and Ashley who is 5. Christopher is currently a Police Officer with the Village of Riverside, and has been there since March of this year. He worked for the Village of Lyons as a Police Officer from 2003 through 2014. In 2014, Christopher was laid off from the Lyons Police Department, and was unemployed for six months until he accepted a job with the Montgomery Police Department. He worked for Montgomery from November 2014 until March 2017 when he got the job offer in Riverside. Our Brother Christopher is very outgoing and friendly, and always seems to put a smile on everyone’s face no matter where he goes. The heart that my brother has is a very rare, which makes him an amazing officer of the law. He loves his family and his wife and puts them first before himself always…
On November 25, 2017, the day before his 46th birthday, Christopher was diagnosed with cancer. The official diagnosis is stage 4 metastic papillary renal cell carcinoma. About 4 weeks ago, Christopher noticed a lump on his neck. He went to the doctor, who proceeded to order a CT scan. The first scan was of his neck, and then on his entire body. The body scan showed an 8.8 cm tumor (the size of a baseball) on his right kidney, as well as the cancer spreading through most of the lymph nodes in his body. This particular form of cancer is extremely rare, and possibly genetic. Further testing is also being done to see if Christopher’s children or siblings are at risk.
When we first talked to our brother about this, his first concern was that his family would be OK, and not be burdened with any financial strain or medical bills. This is in the very early stages of treatment so it is unclear what the financial impact will be. All we know is that when Christopher found out, he tried to switch insurance to something that would allow him to seek better treatment, but he missed the cut off by two days. Our brother has spent more than 15 years of his life putting others first as well as putting his life on the line to ensure the public is safe. We all know that he puts that uniform on every day without hesitation, and with pride. Christopher also has said that he would work, until he can’t physically continue based on his treatment. Now, with this campaign of “BELIEVE”, Christopher needs YOUR help, and his family needs YOUR help. We know that Christopher would never ask anyone for help, so we are asking for him. This help is not only for our brother, but for his wife and two beautiful daughters who need him to be there for them. This is not only for Christopher and his family, this is also to keep an excellent officer on the streets that we so desperately need nowadays. If there is anyone who believes in what his badge stands for, it is our brother. He has saved so many lives in his career, now, with this campaign of “BELIEVE”, we can save him…
Thank you so much to all of you who “BELIEVE” with us, and may the Lord Bless You for your support and kindness…
