Bella needs the lifesaving surgery!

Bella was spotted alone, afraid, hungry and injured on the streets of Puerto Rico one night. The story only got worse because when she was seen again, her injured face had worsened with cuts and opened wounds. Judging by her bite wounds, it seemed that poor helpless Bella was used as a bait dog and we knew that this dog deserved so much more in life. When @soulsofsatos reached out to us for help, we immediately welcomed her into AMA family and promised her a better future. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been easy for this little girl considering that we found out that Bella had multiple tick born diseases leaving her very weak and sick. There were no specialists in NY who understood these tick born diseases indigenous to Puerto Rico and other areas, and the vets needed to consult with a specialty laboratory in North Carolina to help us properly diagnose her. Bella had to be on strong antibiotics and treatment for months to help cure her of these multiple tick born diseases. Today Bella faces another challenge: she requires surgery to remove various growths from her body and eye, that will be sent for biopsy. She also has fractured teeth that need to be removed, another sign indicative of the harsh conditions Bella endured in Puerto Rico. We truly hope that this is the last step before Bella is finally healthy, and ready for her official adoption.
