Many of my friends and family aren't aware that I suffer from a few chronic invisible illnesses. These include functional neurological disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome and complex regional pain syndrome.
As a result, I haven't had feeling in my left leg below the knee for approximately the last year. I have exhausted my physical therapy visits for the year and unfortunately broke the smaller brace that my orthopedic doctor provided.
His next recommendation to keep me mobile is a custom KAFO brace so I can walk freely without a cane. However, insurance is now denying the cost of this brace also. I am trying to fight through the appeal process which could take up to a year.
