Betsy & Donors kidney transplant funds

First and foremost, I️ would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for simply taking the time out of your day to click on my page and read my story.
Let me take you through my journey. I️ was diagnosed back in 2009 with Glomerulonephritis which is acute inflammation of the kidney. When I was diagnosed doctors noticed both kidneys had already suffered severe damage. I️ was also diagnosed with Factor V Leiden and developed my first blood clot during that time period. I lost a lot of blood due to Factor V Leiden and some bleeding in my stomach in result I had to undergo several blood & plasma transfusions. With failing kidneys comes other health problems and in my case high blood pressure, gout flare ups, a few more blood clots, etc. The first few years were tough, I️ was very sick, in and out of hospitals, taking over 20 pills a day, I wasn’t really eating and had extremely bad anxiety attacks all the time.
As years went by, I️ started to feel better. My symptoms were being regulated and my medications were reduced. Although I was starting to feel better unfortunately my kidneys kept getting worse. This brings us to today. I've been very blessed to have been able to go almost 11 years without the need of a transplant but unfortunately I’ve been in stage 5 renal failure for quite some time now and I️ am in need of a kidney. I recently just started dialysis, I am doing Peritoneal Dialysis from home.
The funds that I️ am raising with your help will aid my donor and I with cost and burdens during our recovery periods.
Here are just some of the more important costs:
-Pre-transplant evaluation & testing
-Insurance deductibles/ co-pays
-Surgery
-Follow up care / testing
-Additional hospital stays
-Anti-rejection medications and other medications that may be needed
-Help during recovery time with bills, food , etc.
I’ve experienced a very hard and stressful path, a path that has been hard to overcome the last few years, but if I️t wasn’t for my my family and friends; I️ don’t know where I️ would be today. I️t takes a village to support a journey like mine and I know that with my faith and my support system everything will be okay. It has gotten me through everything up to this point and strongly believe it will continue to do so!
When people ask me what’s my story? I️t makes me question what is a “story”? A story has a beginning, a middle and an end. My story is still being written. I️’m still here, I’m alive and I️’m still fighting harder and harder every day to make sure that I️ get my happy ending. It is my hope and dream that many years from now when I️m old, happy and grey, I can tell everyone my story.
Whether you just read, express interest in being tested to be a potential donor , share on social media or donate to the cause, I once again truly thank you.
If you are interested in being a potential kidney donor or would like to donate to the cause and would like any information please feel free to reach out!
Can’t say it enough. Thank you a million times.
With much love and a grateful heart!
