FUND ME TO SUPPORT AASDO Library Project in Asela and University of Gondar and Area Schools Project
Contact: Dr. Abebe Kebede
Recently Dr. Abebe Kebede and his colleagues started what is called the Asela Arsi School Development Organization (AASDO) with a mission to support schools and educational resources. So far they conducted five missions, which resulted in collection and distribution of 40000 books and a few used computers. These resources were distributed to twenty schools, with a total student population of 20000. The mission is still continuing. Using AASDO as model we are expanding our work into many towns and schools as we gain experience and acquire reliable contacts. Our second work involves University of Gondar and Gondar Area Schools, schools and colleges in the city of DebreTabor. We wish to improve library holdings of the University of Gondar and Gondar area schools and colleges. Currently within the university, there is lack of textbooks in all fields particularly in science and mathematics, psychology and social sciences. High Quality Books are also hardly available at local markets. Students share such critical books at the ratio of 1 book per 50 students. There is a lack of a single copy of textbooks recommended for some courses. Most students depend on notes provided by their instructors during the traditional talk and chalk lectures. For both AASDO and UOG projects we plan to send two containers of books, used computers and several soccer balls in collaboration with Books for Africa. The two projects are posted online for credit card payments or direct mail of personal checks, and money order. This money raised is used for expenses to ship the books directly to Ethiopia. Money can be paid directly to Books for Africa or be paid here. The payment can be done here on this gofundme site and the main funding site hosted by Books for Africa with link below
