Send BGCP Kids to "Black Panther"
Donation protected
This campaign is part of the #BlackPantherChallenge initiated by Frederick Joseph after the success of his GoFundMe to send BGCHarlem students to free screenings of "Black Panther." (read more here: http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/10/entertainment/iyw-black-panther-gofundme-trnd/index.html)
The following is duplicated from his original campaign, with details added for the Boys and Girls Club--Peninsula, whose students will be attending the free screenings:
The release of Marvel's film the "Black Panther" is a rare opportunity for young students (primarily of color) to see a black major cinematic and comic book character come to life. This representation is truly fundamental for young people, especially those who are often underserved, unprivileged, and marginalized both nationally and globally.
Clarkisha Kent of TheRoot.com writes about the importance of the Black Panther film "Black Panther remains socially and culturally relevant because it imagines a world where black people continually triumph over the influences of capitalism, Western imperialism and white supremacy."

About BGCPeninsula, the recipients of this campaign:
BGCP MISSION
Our mission is to provide the low-income youth of our community with the opportunities they need to achieve school success.
OUR VISION
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula's vision is that all young people, if they work hard, can live fulfilling lives with a good education, a fair paying job, decent housing, and the ability to raise a family. We want kids' futures to depend more upon their own actions and less upon the circumstances into which they were born.
You can find out more about BGCP here: https://www.bgcp.org
Donations will help to cover:
