Bianca's Breast Cancer battle at 21

Donation protected

In April 2017, Bianca Innes found a small lump on her breast. After multiple tests, second and third opinions and many tears, Bianca was diagnosed with Grade 3, Stage 2b triple positive Breast Cancer. Out of the 17,586 women this year in Australia who will be diagnosed with breast cancer, only 1 of those diagnosed will be 20 years or younger. Sadly, that 1 person is Bianca.
With no family history, this was not something any one of us would expect to see in a happy and healthy 20 year old woman. Due to the aggressiveness of the cancer, Bianca was left with no other option but to begin immediate treatment which consists of weekly chemotherapy infusions along with a combination of other drugs to fight the cancer.

In order to fight this battle against this life altering illness, Bianca was required to put her Journalism degree on hold and quit her job allowing her to put all her energy into her recovery. With already two seperate admissions into hospital, one being over her 21st birthday, this has been a challenge in which nobody should ever have to face.

Bianca is documenting her journey through her blog 'Going Topless '. She is sharing her emotional story, the ups and the downs, in the hope to spread awareness and prevent young women from going through what Bianca currently is.

An update on Bianca’s condition.

Over the past 6 months, Bianca has had over 10 hospital admissions, one of which spending her 21st birthday in a hospital bed. She completed her 12 rounds of chemotherapy, but unfortunately not without complications. Bianca became extremely ill due to infection and being allergic to her specific chemotherapy drug. She is unable to have any more chemotherapy due to the possible fatal allergic reactions they cause upon her heart and immune system.

She has undergone 2 surgeries thus far and the next proposed treatment is targeted radiation therapy. This consists of daily radiation over a 6 week period. These 30 rounds of radiation are unfortunately not at all covered by health insurance.

Bianca is staying positive, however does struggle daily with many emotions including the financial burden cancer places among all families. After her radiation is complete, her medical team will reevaluate her condition and she will hopefully be on the road to recovery and able to live a normal life as a 21 year old young woman.

We have set up this fundraising page to help alleviate Bianca's financial pressures from her treatment, surgeries, medications and ongoing care. Please show your love and support by donating what you can as any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated by Bianca and her family.
