At the beginning of 2019, I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare, genetic disease that will cause me to go blind. After 4 years of seeing different doctors and being tested and having some people in the field doubt that I am telling the truth, I am grateful to say that I finally have some answers. Unfortunately, there is no exact timeline for the progression but there is a concern that I will lose most of my vision within the next 5 years. This journey has been made easier by my sister queens who always make me laugh at the most inconvenient times.
My biggest dream has always been to travel the world. I've always wanted to see outside of the US and get to experience different cultures. I would love to make this happen within the next 5 years so that I can get the most out of my travel. After traveling, I intend to continue pursuing medical research and working as best as I can around my condition.
Any donation towards this goal would be greatly appreciated so that I can make this dream happen. My travel group includes my older brother, boyfriend, best friend, and cousin who have all helped me start to plan. They are the most amazing support group that I could ask for and I would love to be able to have them come along without financial stress.
My current "Before I Go Blind" bucket list includes:
- Phillippines (where my grandmother is from)
- Northern Lights
- Great Wall of China
- Puerto Rico
- Jamaica
- Costa Rica
