Big Liz's Conjure Corner

I am the owner of Big Liz Conjure, and it has always been my dream to open a spiritual shop in the Columbus, Ohio area. I am an Ohio native who returned in 2015 after living in Chicago/Northern Illinois most of my adult life.
I am a experienced practitioner and purveyor of handmade magical wares. My established online businesse reflects this. Ohio is a unique location because, although there is a large Pagan presence (and stores) in the community, there are no stores that are uniquely devoted to Rootwork (Hoodoo) and African Traditional Religions (ATRs).
My goal is to open a spiritual store without having to take out a business loan. Helping me obtain a storefront will allow me to take a portion of my profits and give back to members of the community through programs to education them about the magical practices and religions of the African Diaspora and hosting community events.
It also allows me to substantially stock the store with items unique to the magic of Black people and ATRs. Through carrying these items, I will not only be able to sell them locally, but the store will also be an on-site resource for their clientele.
Customers and clients will be able to make informed decisions about their magical practices, have a community that supports them, and assistance in fulfilling their spiritual product and educational needs.
My mission is to provide the highest quality spiritual products and services with ethics, honesty, and authenticity. My long-term goal is to become the largest, Black owned, international purveyor of spiritual goods. I intend to uphold my reputation of authenticity, quality goods, education, and community support. I want to ensure that the quality of my establishment matches my committment to my community, my practices, and my beliefs.
I will not half-ass this! I plan to create a comfortable, quality experience every time customers walk in my door. To guarantee that this is endeavor not only meets but exceeds expectations, there are some expenses I will incur to make this a reality.
In keeping with African tradition, I am hoping that the community will come together to help them establish a presence that will be a resource for all.
The success of this fundraising endeavour ideally allows me to purchase a property (instead of leasing one) to avoid landlord discrimination and yearly rental rate increases. In addition, I am working to procure furniture, products from practitioners of color, fixtures, a POS system, and unique, imported fair trade items.
This ensures that I can provide the absolute best in customer service and satisfaction without having to drastically increase my current prices for products and services. I also intend to sell the products of other artisans/practitioners that are in line with the mission of the store.
This will allow small businesses the chance to sell their products in this area, as well as in the global marketplace. I will also be providing divination and spiritual advisement services to their clients from a variety of diviners and practitioners, therefore, providing jobs on my community. My goal is to raise $20,000 by October 1, 2018.
There are no face-to-face resources to assist Black people as they discover their ancestral, magical and spiritual paths in central Ohio. I recently started The Ohio Black Witch Circle, and it is astounding how many brothers and sisters are seeking out spiritual guidance and education!
Because I know what it is like for people not to understand our varied paths, and the feelings of isolation it can cause, it is extremely important to me that I make an impact and provide an avenue for people to discover all that the magic of Black Americans and ATRs have to offer.
Your help in opening this store will allow me to sponsor speakers, workshops, retreats, camp-outs, and pilgrimages that have not been previously offered in this community.
Please help me to manifest my vision!
