The Allie Sunshine Project invites you to pledge your support as we join forces with Charles Morgan as he cycles over 2100 miles from Santiago, Chile to Patagonia, Argentina to raise funds for our Buddy Benches initiative in schools across the Windsor-Essex area.
What are Buddy Benches?
Buddy Benches are a tool to cultivate friendship and to eliminate loneliness in our local schools. Sitting on a Buddy Bench is a sign to other children in the school yard that they seek acceptance and friendship. It is an opportunity for children to reach out and meet others, especially during sensitive periods of growth when they are beginning to develop their social skills. We believe that fostering safe and positive school environments invites better learning.
What is The Allie Sunshine Project?
The Allie Sunshine Project was created in honour of Allison Chartrand Hayes who passed away in 2015 from leukemia. Modelled after the generosity and caring nature of Allison, the Allie Sunshine Project works to inspire a network of wellness explorers through the creation of projects and events in the Windsor-Essex county. We look to ignite learning and to support self-healing, while also fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
All proceeds will go towards the installation of Buddy Benches in local schools.
Charles' long, but exciting journey can be read about here on his blog 'In Search of Che': https://bikeodyssey.cc/cycletooth/
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all your love and support!
