Help Save a Good Man's Life
This is my father-in-law, Bill Brogan; to say he is a gentleman wouldn’t speak loudly enough to the depth of his humility, warmth and decency. He is a hardworking, unassuming, everyday hero, who thinks little of putting in a 70+ hour week at 66 years old. His only priority in life is family - Bill does everything he does with family in mind. He is a loving husband, brother, father of six and grandfather with an enormous network of family, friends and neighbours who love him dearly. Bill is among the most gentle, caring and sage individuals I’ve ever met; I'm quite sure that that sentiment would be echoed by all who know him.
Unfortunately, Bill has fallen victim to an absolutely shocking crime and desperately needs our help.
As Bill left his south Johannesburg home for work at 6:30 am on 6th July, he was surprised by intruders and shot in the head. Despite this catastrophic injury Bill regained consciousness when help arrived, a testament to his tremendous will to live and inner strength. Needless to say he suffered life threatening injuries and will consequently need multiple brain surgeries. As one might suspect the cost of such complex neurosurgery is extraordinarily high and, as Bill doesn’t have medical cover, will cause incredible strain on the family at this harrowing and emotionally fraught time. I hope that the mountain of goodwill Bill has generated, through a life lived with love, humility and understanding will compel people to help him in his time of desperate need. I humbly ask anyone who can help to please give whatever they can, and join the effort to save a good man’s life.
