Bilston Town Floodlight Fund
Bilston Town Community Football Club is a registered charity and winner of the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2017.
We have recently had to take the decision to completely replace the floodlights at our historic Queen Street Stadium after multiple attempts to repair ongoing problems that affected a number of matches in recent months.
Our club needs operational floodlights to not only maintain the first team's place at step 6 in the non-league football pyramid but also to ensure our youth team can continue to play in the Midweek Floodlit Youth League.
We also manage junior football competitions that allow players from ages 11-14 to experience floodlit football through the season with multiple cup finals taking place under the lights in March and April.
These experiences offer a great opportunity for local youngsters to play in a stadium environment and under floodlights, many of whom will be experiencing this for the first time.
The replacement of the entire electrical system that power the lights was an emergency expense and, as such, we could not make applications for grants or funding through the usual sport funding channels as this was a time critical decision we had to make now to protect the future of the club.
Turning the lights out on the pitch could have turned the lights out on the club but we are not prepared to give up that easily.
This appeal is to the wider football community to help us raise what we need to cover the bill for the repairs - we have to settle this before Christmas so the clock is ticking.
If you love non-league football or football in general and want to support a club who has it's local community at heart then we appreciate any donation you can make.
If you are a taxpayer then clicking Gift Aid will ensure we receive the additional 25% which will increase our chances of hitting our target.
We thank you for taking time to read this appeal and thank you for considering to donate to our cause - our total bill is well into five figures so we hope you can help us with this first instalment as we explore other fundraising opportunities.
