BIONIC Club Homeless Support Box
Donation protected
Who We Are:
We are a club at Berkeley High School called Believe It Or Not I Care (B.I.O.N.I.C); a group of concerned students dedicated to helping all members of our community. All of our actions are community service oriented simply to show others we care.
Things we’ve done:
In the past we have served the environment by volunteering at shoreline and park cleanups, volunteered at homeless dinners, volunteered at the Berkeley Half Marathon and Berkeley Project, fundraised for the victims of hurricanes by hosting bake sales and coin drives, and helped plan the annual Holiday Meal at Berkeley High.
In the spring semester, we aim to inspire our community and continue our legacy of volunteering through an event called the BIONIC Boxes.
State of the Homeless Community:
The city of Berkeley currently has an estimated 1,200+ homeless individuals, a devastatingly high number that has been growing exponentially over the past years. This population of homeless people range from military veterans to teachers who have provided services to us in the past but now lack the bear minimum needed to survive.
The Bionic Box:
From talking to people on the street, we realized the homeless need the little things that shelters don’t necessarily provide. Our goal is to create a personalized care package that will be delivered directly to members of the berkeley homeless community. These “Bionic Boxes” will provide items such as tampons, sanitary wipes, water, and even snacks for the day. We plan to maximize our impact through a straightforward approach that puts money raised directly into provisions that can be distributed. In addition to this “Go-Fund-Me” campaign, BIONIC has worked to reach a goal of $1000 by holding bake sales and music performances on the street throughout the holiday season.
Why Donate?:
From just a dollar to twenty and above, everything will help to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves. It’s a small action that goes a long way to addressing homelessness. Actions surpass words when hoping to create change, progress is 1% speaking and 99% doing. We hope that other communities will observe our campaign and be inspired to act within their own community. So the question is: Do you care? Show that “You care” through acting, and donate to create positive progress on our planet.
