Blackdom was an all -black town founded in Chavez county New Mexico during the turn of the 20th century. Founded by Afro-frontierest, Blackdom was recognized as a community in 1912 after New Mexico was declared a state. Our project will focus on this community and how they thrived in the southwest during the "Jim Crow" era.
